DEPARTMENT OF FORGOTTEN ART, DELTA DEPOT, A PLATFORM BETWEEN CULTURE AND CITY CAMPUS

ATA2022

What is a mega-structure?

A structure born in the field of science fiction, a huge high-density complex, a movement that finds expression in post-modernism.
The delta depot aims to mend the urban fabric and exploit its existing infrastructure. The intervention focuses on 3 different layers that are apparently disconnected from one another but whose relation responds to a pre-determined set of goals.
The ground floor of the building is conceived as an art depot for archiving and exhibition-making, while the first floor relates to the surrounding context, offering meeting places, shops and housing for students, with 4 exceptions that consisting in the tallest buildings: a parking block, an office tower, a storage and a museum.

The new forgotten art department pretends to look like a real city, streets and squares, public and private, centered on the theme of the production of culture between the university and the art world.
