The current global pandemic has forced all of us to change our everyday habits. We have to spend most of our recreational and professional time at home which leads to limitation of activities within the living spaces. Therefore, the possibility to create more diverse functions in limited spaces is crucial during these times.
Our concept for the couples' apartment, Giulia and Roberto, proposes close connection between the living and working area. By analyzing each of the private and common functions of the apartment, we came to the conclusion that the space needs to be adjustable according to usage. The sleeping area keeps its privacy by being elevated from the rest of the functions. The living area, however, becomes part of the working area and vice versa by manipulating with furniture pieces, thus creating a more dynamic combination of functions. The sofa's backrest is adjustable according to usage. It can be used for leisure activities in the living area or for working activities in the working area, such as presentation activities. The working desk, besides its main function, can also be used as a platform for presentation activities and as a vertical communication between the sleeping area and the rest of the apartment.
