Working from home has become the new normality during this health crisis and therefore, the living conditions in homes have been challenged. Conflicts and discomfort are more likely to be triggered now, and the need for revised design guidelines for the interior of homes, in this case flats, is eminent. The focus is on the workspace; having a desk in the bedroom or using the kitchen table as workspace is not possible anymore. The goal is to create a space, the layout of which does not entirely differ from one of an ordinary flat, but it smartly repurposes the interior of it so as to address the new needs. The new design aims to anticipate the challenges that ‘working from home’ can bring into the interior of a flat.
