A typical inmate is given a 15 minute limit for a phone call, and between those calls must wait 30 minutes before attempting another. As a prisoner, the notion of serving time is true at every turn, every interaction and event is bound less by bars than by time.
Fifteen Thirty creates an interactive threshold for exchange through sound. The design enables the inmate to feel outside their confinement while the public feels inside one. The contrast brings closer these two opposing conditions and in doing so fosters a more equal exchange.
