Archistart, with the aim to keep the focus on tourism, promotes Floating Room Competition, a contest calling the participants to design a double/twin “special room” with restroom, to be placed on natural or artificial water bodies.
230 young professionals under 35 of 18 different nationalities took part in the competition with 117 projects.
The jury was composed of Alberto Mottola, a member of Demogo; Andrea Masperi and Valerio Panella, members of Small Architecture Workshop; and two members of the Archistart team, Giacomo Potì and Jolta Gurra.

Archistart, proseguendo la sperimentazione su tematiche turistiche ha lanciato a Maggio il concorso Floating Room Competition. FRC2017 richiedeva la progettazione di una camera flottante, con i relativi servizi, immaginando che possa essere collocata su specchi d’acqua naturali o artificiali.
Al concorso hanno partecipato 230 giovani professionisti under 35 di 18 nazionalità differenti con 117 progetti.
La giuria era composta da Alberto Mottola, componente dello studio di Architettura Demogo Studio; Andrea Masperi e Valerio Panella, componenti di Small Architecture Workshop; e due componenti del team Archistart, Giacomo Potì e Jolta Gurra.

FIRST PLACE
Name project: NESSIE
Designer: Martino Pasqua
Nationality: Italian
Prize: 1500 €
Jury’s motivation:
The project stands out for a well-structured spatial distribution that favors the diversification of views and a relationship with water, that seems always different. Nessie reflects and glances off the water through a changeable and articulate facade that lets it permeate, creating a unique visual and spatial continuity with the context. The hierarchy given to the volumes enhances the transition spaces that become the element of greater contact with the water mirror.
Motivazione giuria:
Il progetto si è distinto per una distribuzione spaziale articolata che favorisce la diversificazione dei punti di vista ed una relazione sempre diversa con l’acqua. Il manufatto si riflette e riverbera nell’acqua attraverso una facciata mutevole ed articolata che si lascia permeare generando una continuità visiva e spaziale unica con il contesto. La gerarchia assegnata ai volumi valorizza gli spazi di transizione che divengono l’elemento di maggiore contatto con lo specchio d’acqua.
SECOND PLACE

Jury’s motivation:
The jury has appreciated the conceptual and evocative force of the project. Water is the connotative element: through the reverb, it alters the light within the built spaces. The work creates an intimate relationship with the water body by a fickle experience, in line with the changeable light and the natural reflection of water.

La giuria ha apprezzato la forza concettuale ed evocativa del progetto. L’acqua diviene l’elemento caratterizzante ed attraverso il riverbero modifica la luce all’interno dell’ambiente costruito. Il manufatto definisce una relazione intima con lo specchio d’acqua consentendo una esperienza mutevole in armonia con il cambiare della luce e del riflesso dell’acqua.

The jury has particularly appreciated the completeness and the functional complexity contained in a pure element, defined by a simple geometric form. The relationship between the context and the flexibility of spaces and of points of view allow a sensorial use, changeable over time.

La giuria ha particolarmente apprezzato la completezza e complessità funzionale racchiusa in un elemento puro e caratterizzato da una forma geometrica semplice. La relazione con il contesto e la flessibilità degli spazi e dei punti di vista consentono una fruibilità sensoriale mutevole nel tempo.

The jury has appreciated the proposed architectural volume, characterized by a complex volumetry, that creates a spatial and functional complexity internally. The opening toward the landscape, that guides the look and defines a habitable external setting, has been found particularly interesting. It was especially appreciated the practical work of presenting the project.

La giuria ha apprezzato il volume architettonico proposto caratterizzato da una volumetria complessa che ricava al suo interno una complessità spaziale e funzionale. E’ risultato molto interessante l’apertura verso il paesaggio che indirizza lo sguardo e definisce un ambito esterno abitabile. E’ stato particolarmente apprezzato il lavoro pratico di presentazione del progetto.
