The installation appears as an emergency on the waterfront, as an architectural reference that offers new perspectives of the sea view and of interactive activities for beach users. A ramp integrated into the seating elements allows an easy access to the beach, becoming at the same time a transition between the public space and the beach, towards the sea.

L’installazione appare una emergenza sul lungomare, come un riferimento architettonico che offre nuove prospettive di vista e attività interattive per i fruitori della spiaggia. Una rampa integrata ai sistemi di seduta permette di accedere agevolmente alla spiaggia divenendo allo stesso tempo transizione tra lo spazio pubblico e la spiaggia, verso il mare.

The project stems from the need to provide a connection between the beach and the waterfront, divided by a gap in height and a low wall that hinders the visual and spatial continuity between the waterfront and the beach. The installation defines a new boundary and enhances it. In this sense, the installation performs not only the function of connecting but also gets to think about the importance of freedom of movement.
The establishment of the structure close to the wall creates a distinctive reference point visible along the waterfront; the stairway favors stops and aggregation offering new perspectives from which to admire the landscape as well as a platform for new functions such as shows and games for the youngest.

Il progetto nasce dalla necessità di ideare una connessione tra spiaggia e lungomare, divisi da un salto di quota e da un muretto che ostacola la continuità visiva e di percorrenza tra lungomare e arenile. L’installazione definisce un nuovo confine e lo valorizza. In questo senso, l’installazione svolge non solo la funzione di connettore ma anche vuole far riflettere sull’importante della libertà di movimento.
L’insediamento della struttura a ridosso del muretto crea un punto di riferimento distintivo e visibile lungo il waterfront; la gradonata favorisce la sosta e l’aggregazione offrendo prospettive nuove dal quale ammirare il paesaggio così come una piattaforma per funzioni inedite come spettacoli e giochi per i più giovani.
The installation is characterized by a passage that defines a main entrance to the beach, and the contrast between the narrow path and the exterior sides, dictated by different colors, has the function of creating an experience of welcome and direction; the axis of view is centered and reduced to the sea so to loosen once arrived at the beach allowing a different peripheral vision of the waterfront perspective.

L’installazione è caratterizzata da un passaggio che definisce un ingresso principale alla spiaggia ed il contrasto tra il passaggio stretto e l’esterno dettato da colori diversi, ha la funzione di creare un’esperienza di accoglienza e direzione; l’asse di vista viene centrato e ridotto al mare per poi allentare una volta arrivati in spiaggia permettendo una visione periferica diversa della prospettiva del waterfront.
Vai Oltre is the winning project of the Self Construction Competition promoted by Archistart SCC2019 and realized during the IAHsummer2019 Festival, and won by Julian Sillem. The beach lab was coordinated by Archistart Studio and Francesco Convertini.
