ATA2022 – winners!

ATA (Architectural Thesis Award) is the international thesis award promoted by Archistart, launched with the aim of promoting, rewarding and giving visibility to young talents in architecture.

104 young professionals under 35 of 13 different nationalities took part to the 6th edition of the competition with 44 projects. The jury members have carefully examined all projects and assigned the first place and four special mentions:

We are very glad to announce ATA2022 winners!

ATA (Architectural Thesis Award), è il premio tesi internazionale promosso da Archistart e giunto alla sua quinta edizione, che ha l’intento di valorizzare, premiare e dare visibilità a giovani talenti del mondo dell’architettura.

Al concorso hanno partecipato 104 giovani professionisti under 35 di 12 nazionalità differenti con 44 progetti. La giuria ha osservato con cura tutti i progetti pervenuti e scelto il vincitore. La giuria ha inoltre deciso di premiare quattro progetti attribuendo le seguenti menzioni:

Project name: La Megalópolis de Nadie
Team:Lagunilla Architect: Filippo Vajra + Giovanni Ratto

Jury’s motivation: The winning project was particularly appreciated by the jury for its unified and articulated character. The thesis presents a complex and declinable system that solves the initial objectives, on different scales. It appears as a unitary building, made up by various modules and can be implemented in stages. A utopian project but with real relevance, flexible and repeatable in different contexts. The jury particularly appreciated the graphic quality and the details of the images. Congratulations!

Motivazione giuria: Il progetto vincitore è stato particolarmente apprezzato dalla giuria per il suo carattere unitario e articolato. La tesi propone un sistema complesso e declinabile che risolve gli obiettivi iniziali, su diverse scale. Si presenta come un edificio unitario composto però da vari moduli ed attuabile per fasi. Un progetto utopico ma con attinenza reale, flessibile e reiterabile in contesti differenti. La giuria ha particolarmente apprezzato la qualità grafica e la capacità di dettaglio degli elaborati. Architectural Composition

Project name: Department of forgotten art, delta depot, a platform between culture and city campus. 
Architect: Davide Capriotti
Nationality: Italian

Motivation: The project proposes an urban infrastructure with a clear and defined shape that solves an unnamed space, making it a urban resource of housing wealth. Very interesting how the project is analyzed starting from the urban scale to the domestic dimension.

Motivazione: Il progetto propone una infrastruttura urbana con una forma netta e definita che risolve uno spazio senza nome, rendendolo una risorsa di carattere urbano, generatore di nuova ricchezza abitativa. Molto interessante come il progetto venga analizzato partendo dalla macro scala urbana alla dimensione domestica.

Urban Planning

Project name: EMERGENZE/INTERFERENZE Alternative spatial occasions for the urban agenda
Team: Luogo | Ahmed Mansouri + Riccardo Masala
Nationality: French

Motivation: The project proposes an articulated and complex urban analysis solved with few and clever architectural elements that define a unicum. The project shows how the architectural project can solve and mend complex urban environments

Motivazione: Il progetto propone un’analisi urbana articolata e complessa risolta con pochi elementi architettonici, ottimamente studiati, che definiscono un unicum. Il progetto dimostra come il progetto architettonico possa risolvere e ricucire ambiti urbani complessi

Landscape design

Project name: UN/ARIDSCAPE : a water development model for the desert rural villages in the Arava Valley; case study of kibbutz Elifaz (Israel)
Architect: Claire Wright
Nationality: Italian

Motivation: The project stood out for a very accurate and detailed landscape design. It is interesting for the ability to deepen technical elements and for the choice of a complex theme.

Motivazione: Il progetto si è distinto per un disegno di landscape molto accurato e dettagliato. È interessante per l’abilità di approfondimento di elementi tecnici e per la scelta di un tema complesso.

Structures and Technological Systems

Project name: Autonomie
Architect: Mikhail Fabiani
Nationality: Italian

Motivation: The project deals with the theme of renewable energies and the jury found it particularly interesting for the ability to represent a technological feature in a compositional and poetic language. Even if the project is included in a specific context, the project is repeatable in any place.

Motivazione: Il progetto affronta il tema delle energie rinnovabili ed è interessante per l’abilità di rappresentazione di un aspetto tecnologico in chiave compositiva e poetica. Seppur proponendo un contesto, il progetto risulta ripetibile in qualsiasi luogo.
